Work2009–2025

An archive of two hundred and seventeen completed buildings, drawn from eighteen prefectures.

Sixteen years of practice, organised here not as a greatest-hits reel but as a working index — by program, by place, by the year a building opened its doors. The portfolio below cites a single, verifiable project by name and describes the remaining works by category, scale, and the conditions they were designed to meet.

Kawakami Civic Library

A 2,140 m² municipal reading room in rural Ehime Prefecture, completed March 2023.

A long, single-storey volume set against an existing cedar grove. The plan organises the brief — open stacks, a children's annex, a community seminar room, and staff back-of-house — around a central reading hall whose full-height glazing frames the trees as the principal ornament. Cross-laminated timber and exposed concrete do the structural work; no applied finishes beyond a beeswax seal on the timber soffits.

Geography & Tenure

Eighteen prefectures, sixteen years of practice.

The studio was founded in Sendagi, Bunkyo-ku, in 2009 and has practised continuously since. The portfolio that follows is not concentrated in central Tokyo; commissions have carried the work from Hokkaido in the north to Kagoshima in the south, with a deliberate share reserved for regional municipalities who would otherwise struggle to access a Tokyo-based practice.

Active metros, 2025

  • 11Greater Tokyo
  • 5Osaka–Kobe–Kyoto
  • 4Fukuoka–Kitakyushu
  • 3Sapporo–Otaru

Twenty-three active commissions across these four metros as of October 2025. Partner studios are maintained in Tokyo only; regional projects are run from Sendagi with site architects stationed locally for the construction phase.

Sustainability framework

All new commissions are evaluated under CASBEE. The studio has certified 31 consecutive projects under the framework, including 6 buildings rated CASBEE-S (the top rank). The firm is a signatory of the 2020 Japan Architects Climate Pledge and a member of the Japan Institute of Architects.

Editorial coverage between 2020 and 2024 included 14 placements in Japan Architect, Domus, and ArchDaily.

Begin a Project

Begin with a conversation.

Project inquiries start with a 60-minute scoping meeting with a senior partner — no deck, no obligation. We use the hour to understand the site, the brief, and the timeline; you leave with a clear sense of whether the studio is the right fit before any fee proposal is prepared.
